"Three brothers and their families came to America from Hamswehren, Ostfriesland, Germany.'

John has a half brother, Herre 'Harry' Winter. I assume Harry is a son of Ubbe Dirks Winter by another wife.

'He came to this country [USA] in 1870, making his home near Ackley, Iowa. It was there he met Grace Meyer, the daughter of Tjark and Trientje (Pannekoek) Meyer; she had just emigrated with her father, brothers and sisters in the springof 1890 from Germany to the Ackley area. ... John and Grace were married on December 11, 1890, in Hardin county, Iowa. About ten years later they moved to a farm north of Buffalo Center. The Lord blessed John and Grace with four sons and four daughters:..."

The children of John Winter are arranged in the same order as presented in the Buffalo Center IA 1892-1992 Centennial book pg. 444.
