Delwyn B. Warkenthien, 69, a resident of Lake Albert, near Arlington, S.D., died peacefully on July 30, 2010. Memorial services were held on Aug. 3 at Furness Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Clark, S.D.

Delwyn B. Warkenthien was born on March 1, 1941, at Clark, S.D., the son of Alfred and Mable (Trevithick) Warkenthien.

On Nov. 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shryl McPeek at Willow Lake. On March 10, 1998, Shryl died and Delwyn continued living on the farm. He and Shryl had begun to enjoy winters in Arizona so Delwyn continued to winter there.

On Feb. 24, 2001, he was united in marriage to Carol Feickert Degenstein (formerly of the Bismarck area) at Gold Canyon, Ariz. Carol helped Delwyn continue to enjoy his retirement by spending winters at Gold Canyon and summers on Lake Albert.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife, Carol Warkenthien, Lake Albert; children, Carmen (Alden) Brown, Faulkton, S.D., Carla (Bob) Taepke, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Curtis (Kathy Langerock), Watertown, S.D.; siblings, Marivonne Bastian, Clark, Sharon (Roger) LaMont, Willow Lake, Janice (Gary) Kangas, Esko, Minn., and Marlin (Cindy) Warkenthien, Willow Lake. He also leaves three grandchildren, Kiersten, Keagan and Rebekah. A sister-in-law, Carolyn (Bob) Harding, Clark; stepchildren, Melody (Roger) LaVahn, Tempe, Ariz., and Jack Degenstein, Bismarck; and step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Lyn and Landon, also survive.
