Notes about Anna L. Cole

Anna L. Cole

Source: Klaus, Terry, The Family Alwood, (Sacramento, CA, T. Klaus, June MCMXCI), pg. 4, Repository: Dallas TX Pub. Lib. for name, yob = 1865, born OH.

There is a Worth Welch who married Anne Cole 19 Feb 1884 4-313.

29 June 1870 Pike Twp Fulton Co OH census, sheet 167, Repository: Dallas TX Pub. Lib.

'...Cole, Simon P., 29? ... ... Julia, 30?, ... ... Ella, ... ... Ida May, ... ... Anna L., 5, fem, white, b. OH, at sch'

If the census were correct, Anna L. Cole was born on or after 30 June 1864 & on or before 29 June 1865.

Black, Dorothy, Letter to David Navorska, (Bloomdale OH, D.C.B., xvii Aug MCMXCVIII)

Mrs. Black writes, 'Anna Stahl was my aunt. As a child, I remember visiting once in awhile, and attended her funeral somewhere in Indiana.'

Wagner Jr. Howard, Letter to David Navorska, (Peru IN, H.W., xx Aug MCMXCVIII)

Mr. Howard writes, '... Simon and Julia (McCaskey) Cole ... Thier daughter, Anna L. Cole, was my great-grandmother. She married my great-grandfather John L. Schrock. ... '

I am trying to combine these data: Anna died before John Shrock; Mrs. Black knows her by the name Anna Stahl; an anonymous FGS sent 31Au1998 by Mr. Howard shows Annie L. Cole had another husband named Robert Cloe; John Shrock & Annie Coleare buried in different cemeteries even though both died in Elwood, IN.

My hypothesis from these data is Annie was married twice. Once to John Shrock then divorced, then to Robert S. Cloe.

Anon. Shrock/Cole FGS, (Peru IN, Mailed by Howard Wagner on xxxi Aug MCMXCVIII) for dob, town of birth, dod, town of death, dobur. = 17 Jun 1941, cem.

'Annie L. Cole Born 19 Aug 1862 ... Swanton, Ohio'

Swanton OH is in Fulton Co. There is a Swanton Twp. next door in Lucas Co., OH.

Obiit. Mrs. Anna Shrock Cole, 17 June, 1941

'Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Shrock Cole, who died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Stitsforth west of Elwood, will be held Thursday at 1:20 p.m. from the First Baptist church with the Rev. Robert W. Sage in charge. ...'

The obiit. has dobur = Thursday. The obiit has the date June 17 hand-written on the top. A perpetual calendar shows Thursday to be the 19th of June, 1941. I am using 19 June 1941 for date of burial.

Wagner, Howard, Memorandum to David Navorska (Peru IN, H.W., xxi Oct MCMXCIX) for date of burial = 19 Jun 1941.

Mr. Wagner explains why he had previously changed Anna's date of burial from 19 to 17, 'I changed the date of Anna Cole's bur: back to the 17 Jun 41. I got to looking at the back of the form and got to thinking about it. The reason the17th was written on the newspaper I sent to you was because that was the date the paper was put out and I forgot about it. Sorry about that.'

Wagner, Howard, Shrock/Cole FGS, (Peru IN, H.W., xxi Oct MCMXCIX) for date of burial.

Mr. Wagner writes, 'Anna (Cole) Shrock Bur. 19 June 41'.

Anna's husbands: 1) John L. Shrock
