Bruce K. McClarren, 97, of Pike Twp., Fulton County, passed away at Fulton Manor on Saturday, August 17, 2002. He was a foremost cattle feeder and farmer his entire life. Bruce was born on the home farm in Winameg on September 30, 1904,to William B. and Agnes Howard McClarren. On May 12, 1924, he married Catherine Evers and to this union was born two sons; Lawrence (Ilene) McClarren and Benson (Julia) McClarren, both of Winameg, and two daughters, Isabelle Le Beau ofGallatin, TN and Carole (Ira) Robinette of Princeton, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jill Oyer, Jared McClarren, Judd McClarren, Julie McCarty, Holly Beumee, Neil Johnson, Brian McClarren, Cindy Davidson, and Sheryl Aeschleman. Hewas preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Howard, Lowell, and Richard; one sister, Mary Bruce, and one grandson, Brad Johnson.

In 1971 he married Florence Mathews who survives at their home in Winameg. They spent 30 years together traveling and living in Palm Harbor, FL and Winameg. Their trips included Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.

Mr. McClarren grew up loving nature, birds, trees, animals and his beloved pony. His cattle buying trips took him to the southern and western states and Canada. Mr. McClarren was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Wauseon, Aetna Grange, the Fulton County Farm Bureau and the Cattlemen organization. He was the last surviving grandchild of Col. D.W.H. Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral homefrom 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Congregational United Church of Christ.
