LEDYARD FARMER SUCCUMBS TO HEART AILMENT

Ledyard: Funeral services were held Thursday for Karel Janssen (Johnson) age 78, at the Methodist church with Rev. E. P. Nuss officiating and burial was made in the Highland Home cemetery. Mr. Janssen was ill a few days with heart troubleand died at his home southeast of town Monday. Mr. Janssen was born Oct. 21, 1863 at Oestfriesland, Germany. He spent his childhood with his parents in Holland and was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed church. He was married in 1886 to Grace Wiegman and emigrated to America in 1902, where he lived at Kamrar for 12 years. He moved to Ledyard in 1914, where he lived until his death. Mr. Janssen enjoyed good health until June, 1941, when he underwent a seriousoperation. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and ten children: Gerald of Swea City, Albert of Lakota, Epko and John at home, Ralph of Ledyard and Carl of Gerled; Mrs. Edw. Dontje, Mrs. Harm Dontje and Mrs. John Walterman and one child died in infancy, 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
