Note: Services were held Monday, Oct. 18 at the Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lennox for Irene Brass. Having suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for several years, Irene died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Friday afternoon, Oct.15, 2004. She attained the age of 78 years, four months and three days. Irene Caroline Brass was born, in Lennox on July 12, 1926, the daughter of Chris and Katie (Kuper) Hoek and was raised by Henry and Katie Mehl. She attended public and rural schools and grew up in the Lennox area. On Aug. 25, 2943 she was united in marriage to Harven Brass at Ebenezer Manse in Lennox. Following their marriage they farmed north of Chancellor and moved to their present farm east of Lennox in 1950. After her children were grown she was employed at Sencore, Inc and Raven Industries in Sioux Falls. Her death ended amarriage of over 61 years. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Harven; her children, Loretta Tonak of Sheridan, Wyoming and Lorin Brass and his wife, Mary, of Wassenaar, the Netherlands; six grandchildren: Benjamin, Rebecca and Timothy Tonak andKatherine, Jennifer and Molly Brass, one great-grandson, Brenden, three step-siblings: Darlene Nordman of Sioux Falls, Harvey Hoek of Minneapolis, MN and Vera Kuper of Romeoville, Illinois
