"John Bruns March 29, 1931 - February 12, 2020

John Bruns, 88, Sioux Falls, SD, formerly Lennox, SD, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Touchmark At All Saints, Sioux Falls.

John Duane Bruns was born on March 29, 1931, on a farm southeast of Lennox, the son of Henry and Jennie (Kuper) Bruns. He grew up here and attended Bennett Rural School District #89 and then graduated from Lennox High School In 1950. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1952 through 1954.

On October 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Muller at the Second Reformed Church, Lennox. The couple farmed south of Lennox. They moved into Lennox in 1987. John also worked many years for Farmers Oil in Chancellor, and after retirement, he worked for the Sioux Falls Auto Auction for 22 years.

John was an active and faithful member of the Second Reformed Church, where he had served as an Elder. He was a life member of the Lennox American Legion Post #174. John enjoyed sports, especially playing golf and softball. He had a passion for coaching and had coached baseball and softball for many years. Most of all, John loved his family. He was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved attending sports and other events of theirs.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of over 63 years, Sylvia; children: Jan (John) Shields, Sioux Falls, Barb (Kelly) Flynn, Omaha and Mike (Lisa) Bruns, Brandon; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dena Bruns, Lennox and Evelyn Miller, Sioux Falls as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15 at Second Reformed Church, Lennox. Visitation with the family present, will begin one hour prior to the funeral, from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday."
