Inland resident, Thomas L. Stroebel, 50, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at St. Frances Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri due to complications after suffering a massive stroke. Tom was born January 18, 1960 in Algona, Iowa to Laurence and Wanda (Neuman) Stroebel.

The family later moved to Lincoln and then Eagle, where Tom spent his childhood, later graduating from Waverly High School in 1978. Tom married Gloria Barsell on July 19, 1980 and they had three children, Levi, Matthew, and Rebekah. They later divorced. On April 7, 1990, Tom married Karen Jurgens and they had a daughter, Rachel. Tom loved hunting, fishing and was an Eagle Scout.

Tom never met a stranger and was loyal and generous to his many friends. He had a great sense of humor and could often be found in his rare off hours laughing at cartoons with his daughter, Rachel. After his family, Tom's greatest love was trucking. During his 26 year career, he was both a company driver and an owner/operator. As entrepreneurs, he and Karen purchased their first truck in 1990 and began their own business. Tom enjoyed the freedom of the open road and being his own boss. His daughter, Rachel, says that her father was stubborn as a mule, a devoted trucker, and a loving husband and father.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents.
