Laurence "Larry" Henry Stroebel, of Elmwood, was born May 4, 1934 to Henry and Minnie (Groen) Stroebel in Kossuth County, Iowa. Died May 25, 2012 in Lincoln, Neb. Graduated from Burt High School in 1953. Korean War Veteran, serving his country in the Air Force. Attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce in Accounting. Larry held various positions during his lifetime including Associate Warden at the NE State Penitentiary and District Manager for Equitable Life Assurance. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3.

Larry married Wanda Neuman on March 10, 1957. They were blessed with three sons, Keith, Thomas and Duane. Larry was a dedicated scout leader for 41 years receiving the Silver Beaver and Scout Key Awards. He was a lifetime member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, gardening, driving a truck and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice and son Thomas. Family members include: son, Duane; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Julia; grandchildren, Levi and Anna, Matthew and Kari, Alana and Rachel Stroebel, Rebekah and Danny Allerheilegen; great grandchildren, Ashlee and Grayson Stroebel, Dylan, Nathan, Skylan and Riylan Stroebel, Stephon Stroebel and Tristan, Sabatian and Presten Allerheilegen; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Robert Kinseth, Grinnell, Iowa; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (5/29/12) at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 S. 33rd Street, Lincoln, NE. Reverend Michael Brown officiating. Visitation with be held Monday (5/28/12) from 2-8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 'O' Street, Lincoln, NE. Memorials to family for future designation. Arrangements by Roper and Sons Funeral Services."
