Ronald George Reiter was born on May 9, 1944 on a farm in rural Ocheyedan, Iowa to Henry and Anna (Schipper) Reiter. He attended school and worked as a farm hand for his family and other local farmers. Ron then began a long career as an over the road truck driver which he loved. He had an excellent memory of all route and roads he drove on and his favorite routes were the ones going South. On November 13, 1964 Ron was united in marriage to Eunice Marienau. They had three children: Sandy, Scott, and Steve and they later divorced in 1984. Ron eventually retired due to his health and then moved to Le Mars to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Ron's family and friends called him 'Butch' and he always loved spending time with them. Growing up, he took his children on yearly camping vacations to the Black Hills. His family continues this tradition as often as possible. Ron's grandchildren meant the world to him; he went and cheered them all at their sporting events. He even shared a birthday with his granddaughter, Katelynn, which was very special to him. Ron was a very kind and generous man. He made an effort to help others whenever he could. In his retirement, he enjoyed doing lawn care and would often assist his neighbors with theirs as well. Ron loved sweets and coffee and made malts for his grandchildren as a special treat. Ron enjoyed playing marbles, video poker, and dominoes; he also spent every Sunday playing pinochle with his siblings.

Ron is survived by his children: Sandy (Mike) Lehner of Remsen, IA, Scott (Lisa) Reiter of Le Mars, and Steve (Rochelle) Reiter of Remsen, IA; grandchildren: Justin Lehner, Samantha (Kyle) Lehner, Nathan Reiter, Katelynn Reiter, and Cody (Micayla) Wilson; great grandchildren: Kali and Oaklie Wilson; siblings: Lucille Daniels of George, IA, Ruby Janssen, Donna Grave, and Paul (Carmen) Reiter all of Sibley, IA; sisters in law: Carol Reiter and Debbie East; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Harvey; brothers: Dale and Earl; and brothers in law: Simon Daniels, Garrett Vreeman, Harold Janssen, Marvin Grave, and Harold TenCate."
