Funeral services for Mrs. Laviniah Stevens were held from the Baptist church at Sibley with the Rev. H.H. Hazard in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Ocheyedan.

Mrs. Stevens passed away at her home in Sibley Saturday, November 23.

She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Horobin. She was born at Fort Dodge December 11, 1872. A few years later she moved with her parents to a farm near Ocheyedan where she lived until womanhood.
She was united in marriage to James Stevens January 28, 1892. To this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. They are: Clarence, Mrs. Lillian Dirks, Leslie, Ellis, Lee and Joel. All the children are residing on farms in this community. There are also nine grandchildren.

Surviving also are three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Attig of Priest River, Idaho; Mrs. Effie May of Sioux Falls, SD; and Mrs. Lola Bush of Armour, SD; and a brother, Walter E. Horobin of Armour, SD.

The serman, given by the Rev. Hazzard at the funeral was built around the words of Mrs. Steven's favorite hymn, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Pallbearers were: P.J. Knapp, F.W. Folkers, Clyde Guertin, Glenn Brunson, George B. Grunson and Earl Harms.
