"Earl R. Beuckens was born September 28, 1926 in Monroe, South Dakota to Dick and Nancy (Weiman) Beuckens. He died February 14, 2020 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 16 days.

Earl was raised and attended school in the Sioux Falls area. He worked as a farm hand near Inwood, Iowa until joining the US Navy during WWII where he was stationed in Hawaii. Following his honorable discharge, Earl returned to Sioux Falls and married Leona "Lee" Peterson on September 15, 1950 at Alcester Baptist Church.

He started his career as an insurance claims adjuster working at Sunshine Mutual, then Le Mars Mutual, that later became Data, Inc., where he was claims manager. Earl liked spending time with his family at Lake Poinsett, fishing, snowmobiling, playing golf. He also liked bowling, including playing on a league with his family.

He and Lee spent six winters in Arizona. They liked it so much that they moved to Green Valley, Arizona where they lived for 21 years. Earl and Lee were involved with various bowling leagues. A few years ago, they returned to South Dakota and have lived in Alcester.

Earl R. Beuckens was born September 28, 1926 in Monroe, South Dakota to Dick and Nancy (Weiman) Beuckens. He died February 14, 2020 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 16 days.

Earl was raised and attended school in the Sioux Falls area. He worked as a farm hand near Inwood, Iowa until joining the US Navy during WWII where he was stationed in Hawaii. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 69 years, Leona Beuckens of Alcester; sons, Greg (Christle) Beuckens of Central City, SD and Brad (Sheila) Beuckens of Sioux Falls; daughter, Jill (Jim) Schultz of Paw Paw, MI; 10 grandchildren, Molly (Robb) Hillman, Megan Beuckens (Tony Cummins), Kelli (Rob) Phelps, Jami Beuckens (Sherrod Franklin), Chad (Sara) Schultz, Wade (Torey) Schultz, Nathan (Nicole) Schultz, Daniel (Morgan) Schultz, Ian Schultz and Parker Schultz; 19 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Al Beuckens (Martha Johnson) of Canton, SD, Francis (Rosemary) Beuckens and Marvin (Phyllis) Beuckens all of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Eichorn and Matilda Czeczox; and four brothers, Edward, Theodore, Harold and Harvey Beuckens.

Funeral services for Earl will be 10AM Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Alcester Baptist Church. Visitation with the family present will be 5-7PM Tuesday, Feb. 18th at the church with a prayer service at 7PM.
