Andrew Dykstra, son of Peter and Gertie (Prues) Dykstra, was born May 29, 1907 on a farm in McCook County near Monroe, SD. On February 14, 1929 Andrew was united in marriage with Gertie Wieman. The couple farmed in the Monroe Marion Parker, SD area before retiring on their farm north of Parker. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1979. Gertie preceded him in death on March 12, 1993.

In March of 2001, Andrew moved to Trail Ridge Assisted Living. When his health began to decline, he moved to Good Samaritan Center in November of 2001.

Andrew was active in the church all of his life. At the time of his death he was a member of Good News Reformed Church of Sioux Falls.

He enjoyed doing woodworking, repairing just about anything, tending his yard, visiting with neighbors, family and friends and listening to his favorite TV church services.

Grateful for having shared his life are two daughters, Gertrude 'Trudy' Ahrendt, Sioux Falls, SD, Darlene DeHoogh and her husband, Rev. Eugene, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Nancy Hoyme, Pierre, SD, Paul Ahrendt, Sioux Falls, SD, David DeHoogh and his wife, Carolyn, Des Moines, IA, Judy Naatjes and her husband, Russell, Sioux Falls, SD; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Hoyme, Jessica Hoyme, Michael Hoyme, Austin DeHoogh, Brett DeHoogh, Ashlyn DeHoogh, Matthew Naatjes, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Naatjes; one step-great-granddaughter, Erica Mays and her husband, David; one sister, Matilda Visser and her husband, John, Monroe, SD; three sisters-in-law, Lena Payne, Pinole, CA, Tillie Edzards, Stover, MO, Shirley Kienholz, Bird Island MN, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Andrew was preceded in death by twin great-grandsons, Jonathan and Thomas Hoyme; his parents; three brothers, John, George, Pete; one sister, Minnie Langerock; and a granddaughter-in-law, Kathy Ahrendt.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Good News Reformed Church immediately following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service."
