Donna Jean DeBoer, age 77, died on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Donna's family will be present for visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Donna Jean Mescher was born on December 29, 1939 in Emery, SD to Frank and Bernice (Johnson) Mescher. She was raised on the farm until her family made their home in Sioux Falls, SD in 1953. Donna then attended and graduated from Washington High School in 1958.

Donna was united in marriage with Merle Linton DeBoer on March 24, 1960 in Pipestone, MN. Donna and Merle made their home in Sioux Falls, SD and were blessed with three children: Merlyn, Greg and Laurie. They also opened their home and love to Jerry Robertson. Following the raising of her children; Donna spent 30-years working at Citibank in Sioux Falls, retiring in 2015. Donna and Merle celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary before his death in 2010. Donna was a member of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

Donna was an excellent seamstress; making everything from wedding dresses to blankets. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music and above all, spending time with her family and friends. Donna was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children: Merlyn DeBoer and his wife, Tami, Rapid City, SD, Greg DeBoer and his wife, Brenda, Sioux Falls, SD, Laurie Peltier and her husband, Larry, Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, Jessica Makoutz and her husband, Joe, Callie DeBoer, Kaitlyn DeBoer, Larisa DeBoer, Jordan DeBoer, Megan Peltier, Melanie Peltier; three great-granddaughters, Isabelle Makoutz, Mya Makoutz and Alice DeBoer; an adopted son, Jerry Robertson, his wife, Laurie and their daughters, Brandy and Brooke, Rapid City, SD; brother, Alvin Mescher and his wife, Jean, Sioux Falls, SD; two nephews Todd Mescher and his wife Cindy, and Tim Mescher and his wife, Holly; two nieces: Traci Mescher and Tricia Young and her husband, Jason and their families; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Bernice Mescher; husband, Merle DeBoer on June, 9 2010; and mother-in-law, Frances Linton DeBoer.
