Esther Eckhoff Services Held

Esther Eckhoff, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away on Sunday, January 26, at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Wellsburg. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Pastor Doug Holmes officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Harlyn Riekena, Donald Stahl, Roger Hook, Royce Tack, Carroll Stahl and Leland Tack.
A memorial fund has been established.

Esther was born on November 17, 1911, the daughter of Johannas and Memka (Meyer) Meester in Grundy County. She was united in marriage to John Riekena on February 14, 1934, in Holland. To this union was born two sons, Larry and Lowell Riekena. John passed away in 1975. Esther married Henry Eckhoff on April 21, 1984, in Wellsburg.

She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and working with flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1975; her parents; and 7 sisters, Harmka Stahl, Rachel Junker, Grace Bowman, Tina Klunder, Mattie Stahl and two in infancy.

Survivors include her husband, Harry of Wellsburg; 2 sons, Larry Riekena and wife Phyllis of Iowa Falls and Lowell Riekena and wife Cathy of Wellsburg; 1 sister, Martha Hook of Holland; and 2 granddaughters, Miekka Moeller and husband Brad of Glenwood, Illinois and Sarah Riekena of Cedar Falls.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
