Kenny (Chief) Sanderson, 60, of Gladbrook, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.
Kenneth Lynn Sanderson was born on August 16, 1950 to Marvin and Lois (Lindaman) Sanderson in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended the Beaman/ Conrad schools graduating with the class of 1968. Kenny then attended a Trade School becoming a Diesel Mechanic. Kenny was married to Mary Manship, they later divorced. He then married Sherry Sharp, they later divorced. On August 16, 2008, he married the love of his life, Lori Rohweder-Hamann, at their home in Gladbrook. Kenny had worked at Green Products Company for 34 years; he was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, and Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown. Kenny enjoyed golfing, traveling, was an avid Hawkeye fan and especially enjoyed Iowa football, took great pride in his yard and was very passionate about his car. Kenny loved serving his community, and had been on the town council and been mayor of Conrad from 1988 until 2005. Kenny enjoyed being around his friends and family and was always there for others. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and being funny and fun to be around, he never knew a stranger and after meeting him he was your friend for life.
Left to cherish Kenny's memory is his loving wife Lori, whom he adored, of Gladbrook, his children: Heather (Josh) Sanderson of Iowa City, Casey Sanderson of Marshalltown, Brittany Sanderson of Cedar Falls, Jason (Paula) Hamann of Gladbrook, and Jaclyn Sherman of Gladbrook, Kenny's grandchildren: Dakota, Jordan, Matthew and Ashley, his siblings: Jerry (Linda) Sanderson of Liscomb, Barb (Jim) Croxdale of Ames, Bobby (Joni) Sanderson of Beaman, Ricky Sanderson of Beaman, LeeAnn Switzer of Conrad, Gary (Sergio) Sanderson of Iowa City, Denny (Lynette) Sanderson of Beaman, Linda (Curt) Hoff of Nevada and Lori Budziak of Aurora , Colorado, Kenny's in-law's, Anna Mae and Roger Rohweder of Gladbrook, sister-in-law Julie (Brad) Hooper of Conrad and brother-in-law Steve Rohweder of Gladbrook.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Lois.
