«u»HENRY BRUNO STECKER«/u», son of Henry and Martje Stecker, was born February 9, 1883 at Grossefehn, Ostfriesland, Germany. In 1897, at the age of fourteen, Burno immigrated to America, arriving at Ackley, Iowa and worked for his grandparents, the Fred Frerichs, on their farm at Buffalo Center. He returned to Germany in 1903 and brought his parents, sisters, and brother back with him.. His brother, Fred, was already in America. Bruno married «u»ELLEN DEBOER«/u», daughter of Ted and Elsie (Tjarks) DeBoer, and farmed at Titonka. After eleven years of marriage,"

"Ellen died April 23, 1918. She had borne twins on April 19th, with one twin dying on April 21. Bruno and Ellen had six children, Martha, Telko, Henry, Edward, and twins Elida and Frederick (died in infancy). Bruno continued living on his farm northwest of Titonka with his children. His aunt, Charlotte Frerichs, took care of the children and his home. Elida was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Martje Stecker, until her grandmother's death, and then Bruno's sister, Maude Stecker, raised Elida. Bruno died August 21, 1946."
