"Page 7 of The Sibley Gazette, published in Sibley, Iowa on Tuesday, November 27th, 1973

GERRIT D. DE JONG

Funeral services were held Saturday Nov. 24, 1973, at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed church of Sibley for Gerrit D. De Jong, 91, who died Nov. 22, 1973 at Osceola Community Hospital. Rev. Harold Hiemstra officiated with burial in Holman township cemetery, Sibley.

Mr. De Jong was born Feb. 27, 1882, in The Netherlands. He came to the U. S. in 1902. He married Tillie Feenstra, March 9, 1909. They farmed in the Ireton and Sibley area, retiring in 1952.

Mr. De Jong is survived by six sons: Dick, Worthington; Hessel, Rock Rapids; Frank Peter, Fargo, N. Dak.; Jacob Allen, Sibley; Gerrit, Jr., Sibley; and Arnold of LeMars; six daughters: Irina (Mrs. Wm. Mouw) Boyden; Gertrude Zwikker, Sibley; Effie (Mrs. Peter Faber) Chino, Calif.; Jennie (Mrs. John Engelkes) Willmar, Minn.; Louisa Jacobsma, Bigelow, Minn.; Tillie (Mrs. Wilbur Rook) Doon, Ia.; 50 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three brothers and one sister."
