Crash Kills One

An Estherville man, Ricky Lee Wentworth, 18, rural Estherville, was killed in a one-car crash at 8:35 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Wentworth was headed south on Highway 4 near the Highway 4 cutoff when he apparently lost control of the car, it hit a tree with the right front end and skidded around on the highway to face east northeast. He was driving a 1977 auto which sustained $7,000 damage. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 26, 1976)

Rick Wentworth

Estherville - Rick Lee Wentworth, 18, rural Estherville, died Nov. 25 in an auto accident. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wentworth was born June 2, 1958, in Fairmont, Minn., to Donald and Deloris Skogen Wentworth. He received his education in Ringsted and Estherville and graduated from Estherville High School in 1976. Mr. Wentworth remained single and had lived in the Ringsted and Estherville area his whole life. After his high school graduation he was employed with McQuay, Inc., Spirit Lake. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Estherville.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wentworth, Estherville; one brother, Dan Wentworth, Hartley; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Kathy) Lenon, Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Doug (Charlene) Cooklin, Estherville; two nieces, Hartley; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wentworth, Buffalo Center; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Skogen, Frost, Minn. He was preceded in death by one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 29, 1976)
