John E. Ruter, 95, of Wellsburg, Iowa, passed away Christmas morning December 25, 2007 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

John was born December 23, 1912 on the family farm near Wellsburg, Iowa, the son of Eike and Trientje (Luppen) Ruter. He attended country school, Shiloh #6, near Wellsburg. ...

Survivors include: one daughter Nadene and her husband Ken Van Hauen of Grundy Center; two grandchildren Clint Van Hauen of Colo, Iowa, and his fiancée: Sarah Sandblom of Des Moines, Iowa, and Krista Van Hauen of Peoria, Illinois; and two sisters Emma de Neui of Ackley and Alice Ruter of Wellsburg.
