Helen Maynard was a daughter of Carl C. Maynard and wife Nellie E. Derry Maynard.

Helen was united in marriage with Jarvis Kenneth Pittenger June 10, 1922 in Delaware County, Indiana (Book 30, Page 525). The union resulted in the birth of four children: 1. Kenneth Eugene Pittenger, Mary Jane Pittenger McKee, Leora Pittenger Jackson-Dyer, and Gerald Cullen Pittenger.

Helen died in Dukes Hospital in Peru, Indiana, the home town of her daughter Leora.

Helen M. Pittenger

Helen M. Pittenger, 86, a formenr Muncie resident, died this morning in Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru following a brief illness.

A Delaware County native, she was the daughter of Carl C. and Nellie Derry Maynard. Mrs. Pittenger attended Eastern Indiana Normal Institute (now Ball State University), and spent most of her life in this area.

Mrs. Pittenger was employed for more that 27 years with the Indiana Employment Security Division prior to her retirement in 1964. She attended First Church of the Nazarene for several years whle [sic] living in Muncie.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mary Jane) McKee, Muncie, and Mrs. R.W. (Leora) Jackson, Peru; a son, Gerald C. Pittenger, Scotts Valley, Ca.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Kenneth Pittenger, and a son, Kenneth E. Pittenger.

Services will be in Meeks Mortuary Monday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary an hour prior to services."
