"Funeral Services Held Nov. 23 for George Meinders

Funeral services for George Meinders, 83, of Buffalo Center were held Tuesday afternoon, November 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Henry Vander Schaaf officiating.

Winter Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements and interment was in Olena Mound cemetery. Pallbearers were seven grandsons Gene Brass, Sherman Meyering, Larry Meyering, Timmy Meyering, Matthew Meinders, Eugene Meinders and SievedMeinders.

George Meinders was born on October 1, 1893 at Alexandria, Iowa to Dick and Wamka Meinders. As a child he moved to Winnebago County, Iowa,

On February 6, 1918 he was united in marriage to Maggie Steen. This union was blessed with three daughters and one son. One daughter, Vergie, died in infancy.

George Meinders farmed most of his life in the Buffalo Center area.

He was a widower for a long time as his wife died at an early age on April 20, 1934.

George was a communicant member of the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center and proved himself a faithful member. He served for a period of time as a member'of the consistory.

The last number of years Mr. Meinders lived next to highway 9 on the west end of Buffalo Center. The last few years George began failing in health and the last number of months he alternated his stay in the homes of his two daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Maggie, an infant daughter, Vergie; two sisters, Helen Kadoes, and Grace Gruis; a brother, Henry, and one grandson, Roger Meyering.

On Saturday morning, November 20, Mr. Meinders departed from this life having reached the full age of 83 years, one month, and 19 days.

Those surviving him are his three children, namely, Henrietta, Mrs. Eddie Brass, Lakota, Iowa; Dorothy, Mrs. Fred Meyering, Thompson, Iowa; and Raymond Meinders of Bellvue, Nebraska. He is also survived by one brother, John Meinders ofKlemme; 10-grandchildreh, and a host of friends and relatives. <>
