"Funeral Services Held at Rake for Joseph Sandum, 73

Funeral services for Joseph M. Sandum, 73, of Rake were held Tuesday afternoon, October 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Liberty Lutheran Church in Rake. Rev. G. E. Jacobson officiated and interment was in West cemetery.

Winter Funeral Service of Buffalo Center was in charge of arrangements and pallbearers were Otto Hertzke, Edwin Dontje, Ubbe DeBoer, I. R. Jacobean, Clarence Van Hove amd Russ_l Haukoos. Mr. Sandum passed away at Winnebago hospital onSaturday, October 24, after an illness of two years.

He was born July 4, 1897 at Rake, Iowa to Thore and Raginild Jacobson Sandum. He was married February 19, 1927 at Elmore, Minnesota to Bessie Hauskins, who preceded him in death in March of 1970.

Mr. Sandum was employed by the railroad until his retirement several years ago. He lived in the Rake area all of his life.

Survivors include five children, Carroll of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Mrs. Robert (LaVonne) Quame of Rake, Boyd of Austin, Minnesota, Mrs. Leland (Glennis) Pearson of Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, and Mrs. Alvini (Peggy) Smidt of Buffalo Center;nine grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Cora) Beaver of Albert Lea, Minnesota. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Thorvel and John, anid three sisters, Sena, Mary and Inger." <>
