"Ehme Brass Dies, Funeral Held Saturday
After four years of lingering illness confining Mr. Brass to wheelchair and bed, he was released from suffering early last Thursday morning January 26, while being cared for at the Maple Leaf Home in Burt, Iowa.
God had granted him the ripe old age of 70 years, 8 month and 23 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Nanne Frerichs home and later at the First Baptist Church with Rev. W. G. Gerthe and Rev. John Engles in charge. Burial was at Graceland cemetery with John Ennen. Albert Yegge, Ubbe J.Winter, Ted Feldick, Henry Bronlewee and John Alberts serving as pallbearers.
The parents of Mr. Ehme Brass had 5 boys and 1 girl. While they were living at Ackley, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ailt Brass on May 3rd 1885 were blessed with a baby boy, to join their family circle. They named him Ehme, that was 70 years ago.When Ehme Brass was 24 years old, the family moved to a farm in the Buffalo Center, community. The following year -Ehme Brass married Miss Jennie Fischer. The new couple lived here^and God gave them a family of 4-boys and 3 girls.
In the year 1927, while Rev. A. G. Lang was pastor at the First Baptist Church here in Buffalo Center, Mr. and Mrs. Ehme Brass accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and following Him in Baptist uniting with this church. In the yearof 1932, Mrs. Brass passed away, and so the family circle was broken. Mr. Brass was also preceded in death by his five brothers, one son, and more recently by his daughter Alice, Mrs. Albert Frerichs.
There remain behind to mourn his passing his immediate relatives: 1 sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Duit of Iowa Falls. 3 sons, Ailt, William and Eddie Brass, two daughters Minnie, Mrs. William Steen and Jennie, Mrs. Nanne Frerichs. 15grandchildren and numerous other relatives and many friends. <>
