George J. Rippentrop was born one mile north of Titonka (now the Robert Boekelman farmstead) on March 1, 1892. He received his

grade school education in the German Valley School. He continued to live on the home place after his marriage to Anna Swalve on October 15, 1914. Anna was born in Germany and immigrated to America at the age of ten. To this union ninechildren were born. The older children received their education in the German Valley School. The family had membership in the Ramsey Reformed Church.

In March of 1931 the family moved to a farm one mile west, but continued to work the land on the two farms. Shortly after moving tragedy marked this young family. July 9 of that year the thirty-six year old mother died after giving birth to her ninth child. The surviving children ranged in ages from two to sixteen years of age. ...'
