Funeral of Mrs. Swalve Monday

Mata Martha Swalve, 63, died early Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital from the effects of a heart ailment.

She had been in failing health for a month and was admitted to the hospital Thursday.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist church, the Rev. Denzil Neumann officiating.

Burial will be in East Side cemetery. Friends may call at the Reese funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday until 11a.m. Monday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.

Mrs. Swalve was born Sept. 31, 1901, in Martin county, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bassett. She received her education in Martin county schools.

In 1924 she married Clarence Mitchell. Two children were born to Mr. and Ms. Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell later married Roy Swalve on May 20, 1942, at Ceylon, Minn.

The Swalves had lived in Estherville since their marriage.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Melvin Mitchell of Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Schmidtke of Estherville; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs . Caroline Mogolson of St, James, Minn., and Mrs. Millie Mogolson ofSpooner, Wis.; three brothers, Donald Bassett of Truman, Minn., Lester Basset of East Chain, Minn., and William Basset of Spooner, Wis.; and her mother, Mrs. Dora Fuchs of Ceylon, Minn.
