Luella Augusta Maria Schadendorf was born July 11, 1914, at Marathon, to John and Lena (Kramersmeier) Junkermeier. Luella was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, to which she remained faithful. Shereceived her education in the Rembrandt School system. ... Luella was united in marriage to Alfred Schadendorf from Ledyard. After their marriage, the couple lived on the family farm near Ledyard for nine years. Luella Schadendorf July 11, 1914 - March 2, 2014

Funeral services for Luella Schadendorf will be held today (Thursday, March 6) at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burt. Interment will follow at Fenton Township Cemetery in Lone Rock.

Luella Augusta Maria Schadendorf was born July 11, 1914, at Marathon, to John and Lena (Kramersmeier) Junkermeier. Luella was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, to which she remained faithful. She received her education in the Rembrandt School system.

During her school years, one of her fondest memories was, starting at the age of 8, playing the tuba for the Rembrandt City Band, along with her father and siblings.

Luella was united in marriage to Alfred Schadendorf from Ledyard. After their marriage, the couple lived on the family farm near Ledyard for nine years. In 1944, they purchased a farm near Lone Rock, where Luella lived till the death ofher husband in 1975. At that time she moved her farm home to Lone Rock. In 2007, Luella took permanent residence in the cities and enjoyed the loving care of her daughter, Kathryn, and the company of her pet cat, Miss Kitty. Luella became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society - Algona in July, 2013.

Luella was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Lone Rock School Band Mothers.

She loved the farm and everything about it. Luella was an excellent cook and she will be remembered for her homemade bread, baked beans and cinnamon rolls. However, her most prized role in life was being a mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Elnora and husband, Junior Hurlburt, of Lone Rock; Joann Kinne of Mesa, Ariz.; Ruth and her husband, Ron Nichols, of Yorba Linda, Calif.; Alfred Schadendorf and wife, Peggy, of Mesquite, Nev.; Sandra andhusband, Harold Harms, of Titonka; Kathryn Schadendorf of Columbia Heights, Minn.; and Janet McQuire of Minneapolis, Minn.; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Evelyn Benna of Albert City and Dorothy Smith of Bancroft.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred; three brothers; two sisters; two sons-in-law and one granddaughter, Nancy Schadendorf.
