'They bought a farm near Germania, now Lakota, just two miles north on Highway 169 now owned by Glen Mabus.'

'On September 22, 1916, they became parents of twin daughters, Ahdah and Idah. When the girls became school age, they were sent by bus to Ledyard Consolidated School, as their farm was on the line of the school district.' 'During theDepression of the forties, they lost their farm north of Lakota. They still were determined to hang in there and bought 120 acres east of Lakota, now owned by Elmer Haas.'

'Idah Charlotte Bakken September 22, 1916 - October 8, 2000 Algona - Funeral service for Iday Charlotte Bakken of Algona will be held Thursday (today), Oct. 12, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Algona with the Rev. StevenTurner and the Rev. Patrick O'Neal officiating. Interment is in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Lakota, the Garry-Roberts Murphy Schaaf Funeral Home of Algona in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers are Paul Armstrong, Rick Hofbauer, Lencho Rojas, Troy Armstrong, Michael Rippentrop and Don Snodgress.

Ida Bakken died Sunday, Oct. 8, (2000), in the Algona Manor Care Center at the age of 84.

Ida Charlotte Bakken waws born Sept. 22, 1916 at Lakota, the daughter of Jakob and Mary Elizabeth Bloom Telkamp. She graduated from the Ledyard High School in 1934, and enjoyed music and played the clarinet in the band during her highschool years. Idah met her first husband, Cort Rippentrop, at a church function and they were married April 5, 1937 at the home farm place at Lakota. She worked as a clerk at a hardware store in Lakota for 12 years, and her husbandworked as a mechanic. He died Oct. 6, 1958, and some years later she met F.L. Bakken through a friend and they were married May 20, 1961 in the Little Brown Church of Nashua. The couple lived in Bode where her husband worked for HumboldtCounty and Ida worked at the Graham Hardware in Algona.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and sewing, and enjoyed fishing in her free time. F.L. and Idah had a trailer and went on many trips to ?Sioux City to visit their dautghter, Marilyn. The couple also enjoyed many trips to theBlack Hills and Missouri. Idah enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a '500' club while living in Bode and in later years, played cards nightly while living in the Maple Park Apartments. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church atLakota before joining the Trinity Lutheran Church at Algona. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lakota where she had served as president; and also belonged to a church circle.

Survivors are her children: Corinne, Mrs. Larry Shirk of Lake Mills; Sandra, Mrs. Robert Armstrong, Buffalo Center; Marilyn, Mrs. Richard Wiltgen, Spirit Lake; and Linda Minton and special friend, Dennis Brosh of Estherville. There are11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren,; and one great-great-granddaughter. Other survivors are a twin sister, Adah Rippentrop of Titonka, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Rippentrop of Kansas City, MO.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Cort Rippentrop and Florenus Bakken; a son, Roger; an infant son and infant daughter; and two sons-in-law.'

There is the possibility that some of the children of Idah listed above are the children of Florenus Bakken by a previous marriage.
