Art Post, 89, of Titonka, died Friday evening at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Monday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Titonka and will continue on Tuesday on hour prior to the service at the church.
Arthur Allen Post was born on March 21,1927, to Evert A. and Anne H. (Kettwich) Post at their home in German Township rural Titonka, Iowa. He was baptized on April 10,1927, by Rev. Adolph Kilian and confirmed on March 29, 1942, by Rev. William Planz. He attended country school (German #7) through the eighth grade.
On February 16, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marvella Bruns by Rev. William Planz. They made their home in rural Woden, Iowa until 1992, when they moved to Titonka. Art farmed for 57 years until retiring in 2006. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council, taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Men's Brotherhood group. He served on the board of directors for the Woden Farmers Coop and the Titonka Care Center. Art had fond memories of spending time with their farm neighbors. He and Marvella celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year.
Art died peacefully at the age of 89 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City on July 15, 2016, one week after Marvella's death.
He is survived by his children: Barbara (John) Greenfield of Northfield, MN, their sons David and Nathan; Marilyn (Roger) Tarbet of Eagan, MN; James (Karen) Post of Titonka, their children Rachel (Jason) Wubben and Scott (Jennifer Czachura) Post; Kenneth (Julie) Post of Titonka, their sons Daniel, Michael, and Christopher; Allen (Susan) Post of Woden, their children Gregory, Amanda, and Kyle. He had two great-grandchildren, Carter and Aubri Wubben. Also surviving are: a brother, Erwin (Troyce) Post; a sister, Berneice (Dwayne) Maass; a brother-in-law, LeRoy Bruns; a sister-in-law, Amanda Bruns; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister and brother-in-law, Viona and Wilbur Welhousen; a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Berneice Post; a sister-in-law Sandra Bruns; and a granddaughter Christine.
His close-knit family is a testimony to the love and devotion that he had for them. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten."
