"HARM HEITLAND DEAD

Former Well Known Resident; Died At Wolsey, S. D.

A telegram received from Wolsey South Dakota was that Harm Heitland, a former resident and well known here, died Thursday afternoon, January 6, at four o'clock' at the home of his son Frank.

For a number of years he lived in Buffalo Center and after the death of his wife which occurred only a few months ago he returned to his old home __ South Dakota. The cause of his death was a general wearing out of ___ intricatemachinery. Old friends here were pained to (hear of his passing. A man of splendid character, __nial at all time and helpful as neighbor.

The body was shipped here Saturday for burial and the funeral services were from the Reformed church Monday afternoon at one o'clock in charge __ Rev. J. H. Schoon.

The deceased father, Harm Heitland, was born in East Friesland, Germany Sept. 11, 1855, and died at Wolsey, S. D. at the home of his son Frank, February 6, 1930, at the age of 74 years, four months and 25 days. He was united in marriagewith Miss __pkea Herteina in July 1875. Seven years after their marriage he moved with his family to Holland. In the year [?] 1898 he came with his family to America and settled near Ackley, ____ where they lived several years. Fromthere they moved to Franklin County, Iowa, where they resided seven [?] years. In the fall of 109 [sic] he moved with his family to Wolsey, S. D. In 1917, they came to Buffalo Center. Ten children were born to this union, eight of whomare living. The deceased united with the Reformed Church in Germany. During his life here he was a consistant Christian. For nine years he served as an elder in the Reformed church near Chapin, ___s. At the time of his death, he was amember of the Reformed church __ Buffalo Center. His departure is __armed by four sons, four daughters, __ grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and one brother, George Hietland. Tlie living children-are Richard Heitland of Willow Lake,S. D., (Rica) Mrs. Bruce Foster, London, Ohio, Frank and Harm Heitland, Wolsey, S. D.; (Katherine), Mrs. Har___ Slegle, Kalamazo, Mich.; (Freda) Mrs. Rev. A. Meenzs [?] Franklin, Indiana; Bob Heitland, and Elizabeth Heitland, BuffaloCenter. His wife preceded him ln death about four months ago. Short services were held at the family, residence of Frank Heltland at Wolsey, Friday afternoon conducted by Miss Fanny Mills of the Presbyterian Church."
