"MRS. HARM HEITLAND PASSES AWAY AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS

Funeral Services Took Place Monday Afternoon At Reformed Church.

After a period of intense suffering Mrs. Harm Heitlancl, a highly respected citizen of Buffalo Center was reeased from earthly pain, and anguish Thursday afternoon of last week, by the visitation; of the death angel. Those close ,ifo theactual condition of Mrs. Heitland were not shocked at he news of her death after having struggled for about a year against brights disease and last July gangrene poisoning set in. She had been bed-fast for at least ,six months. Death camequietly and there was scarcely trace of anything other than a peaceful sleep as she was. ushered from this world into eternity.

Mrs. Heitland, nee Hertema was born at Wyneer East Friesland, Germany, on the 8th day of February, 1856. In the fall of 1876, she was united in marriage with Harm Heitand. In 1893 they came to America and located on a farm in HardinCounty, Iowa. From there they moved to Franklin County, Iowa, and in 1908 they moved to Wolsey, South Dakota. In the year of' 1918 they moved to Buffalo Center and have resided here continuously ever since.

Ten children were, born to this union— six girls and four boys; two daughters have preceded the mother in death. Eight children with the aged husband survive to mourn the passing of a most loving, thoughtful wife and mother. The childrenare: (Freda) Mrs. A. Z. Meengs, Franklin, Indiana; (Katherine) Mrs. H. J. Seigle, Grand Bapids, Mich.; (Reka) Mrs. E. B. Foster, London, Ohio; Elizabeth at home; Frank and Harmon of Wolsey, S. D.; Richard, Willow Lake, S.D.; and Bob athome. She is also survived toy one brother, Jerry Hertema of Latimer, Iowa, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandtoildren

During her -lingering illness, everything possible to make her lot more bearable was done. She, was tendery cared for by her husband and children, but she was not spared, and finally, death came to her relief.

The mother of nine children, Mrs. Heitland had the mother's heart arid even in her helplessness her love went out, to them all. She was sweet and kindly in disposition'and bore her affliction with great patience and fortitude and we havereason to believe that in these months of enforced quietness she found comfort and strength in the one who said, "Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of -the world."

Funeral services were-held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'cjock at the Reformed church and was largely attended by old-neighbors and friends. Rev. J.H. Schoon, her late pastor and Prof. F. Bosch of Central College, Bella, had charge of theservices. Interment was made in Olena, Mound cemetery north of this city.

All her children with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. E. B. Foster of London, Ohio, were here for the funeral services; also her brother, Jerry Hertema of Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Heitland, and Mrs. Henry Heitland of Ackley besides alegion of other relatives and friends from that vicinity and from other Iowa points where the family at one time resided were in attendance at the last sad rites."
