Meryle L Johnson, 58, of Reading died Tuesday March 8, 1994 at his home. Born August 7, 1935 at Rushmore, he was the son of Louis and Grace (Akkerman) Johnson. He married Bonita (Monnie) Smith June 26, 1955 in Brewster. He attended school in Rushmore, Reading and Worthington. After marriage he was employed with Fritz Roofing and then Shield's Construction. He owned and operated MJ Construction from 1974 to 1981. The couple then owned and operated the Red Lantern Supper Club, Reading for 13 years. he also drove a school bus for Reading Bus Lines for several years. He was a member of the Reading Lions Cub and the Worthington Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons Terry Johnson, Slayton and Mark Johnson, Reading; 3 daughters Mrs Leanne (Donald) Redinius, Eden Prairie; Mrs Connie (Mark) Entsminger, Ramsey; and Mrs Brenda (Gary) Behrens, Rushmore; his mother Grace Johnson, Worthington; 3 brothers, Alfred Johnson, Holland; Raymond Johnson, Finlayson; and Frank Johnson, Brewster; 1 sister Vi Bruxvoort, Worthington and 9 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 Thursday at Lynch funeral home, Worthington with the family present from 6-8. The funeral will be 10:30 Friday at the American Lutheran Church, Worthington with the Rev Arlen Foss officiating. Burial will be in Summit Lake Cemetery, Reading.
