Notes about Jennie Gronewold

Jennie was born on a farm near George, IA to Jans & Rena Donker Gronewold. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Jennie's father passed away when she was just nine years old. On November 18, 1943, she and Oliver "Ollie" Doeden were married in Sibley, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed near Sibley until 1955 when they moved to a farm north of Lake Wilson, MN in Cameron Township. They retired in 1989 but remained on the farm. Ollie passed away on June 12, 1999. Jennie continued living on the farm following Ollie's death. Jennie passed away at the Sanford Hospital at the age of 88. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson where she was active with the ladies group. She especially liked quilting and working in the kitchen with all of her friends. Jennie also was a member of the Linger Longer Birthday Club. Over the years Jennie enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and in her later years reading, and watching sports especially the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Lynx. Jennie's greatest joy thoughout her life always involved her family.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Doug and Arlis Doeden, Harris and Linda Doeden, Pat and Bob Idziorek, Peggy and Harvey Erstad, Keith and Vicki Doeden, daughter-in-law, Sandy Doeden, 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Jack Busker, husband, Ollie, son, Kevin Doeden and brother, John Gronewold and his wife, Betty.

Funeral services were held from United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson on April 9, 2014 with Rev. Jon Marburger officiating."
