Engeline Harberts, 79, died unexpectedly Thursday July 8, 1999 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Engeline Meyer was born Dec 26, 1919, the daughtrer of Frank and Minnie (Donker) Meyer on the family farm SE of Little Rock, IA.As a young woman she worked for Priebe and Sons Egg and Poultry in Sibley. She married Richard Harberts on July 7, 1939 at Ashton, IA. Following marriage the couple made their home in George, IA, before settling in Sibley in 1945. Theystarted a small welding and blacksmith business. In 1948, they began manufacturing agricultural related equipment, which was the beginning of Hemco Corp.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the Osceola Community Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her husband she is survived by 2 daughters: Eleanor Ossenfort of Luverne, MN and Roberta Nattress of Lead; 6 grandchildren, 7great grandchildren; a brother John Meyer of Sibley and a sister Trena Abels of George. Funeral services begin at 10:30 Monday at the First Presbyterian church. Burial will follow in Holman Twnp Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 Sunday at the Roste & Vogel Funeral Home of Sibley, with the family present from 2-5 and7-8:30.
