Laurel "Laurie" Deaun Lykam, 54, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation was to be heldWednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities, a cancer support group.

Laurel was born Feb. 24, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Delmer Schriever and Margaret (Papka) Charlton. She was united in marriage to Thomas Lykam on Apr. 1, 2000 in Scott County, IA.

After graduating from high school in Lennox, SD, Laurie attended the Patricia Stevens School of Modeling in Omaha. She was employed at Valley Exchange Bank for five years. She moved to Bettendorf in 1977 where she made her home. She hadworked at Ascentra Credit Union as a Supervisor/Loan Officer for 30 years. She was involved in many hobbies and was voted runner-up in the "Most like Martha Stewart" contest through the QC Times. She also served as an Assistant Superintendent for the ceramics department at the Mississippi Valley Fair. She hadearned the highest ranking in Girl Scouts and was a Girl Scout leader and 4-H member, entering many things in the State Fair. Some of Laurie's hobbies were sewing, needle work, ceramics, making cards, stamping, and gardening. Laurie traveled every year with a group of friends. The most enjoyable trips were to SanAbel Island, FL.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Thomas, Bettendorf, IA; brother, Richard Schriever, Lennox; sisters, Margaret (Wayne) Larsen, Tea, Elizabeth (Jan) Fodness, Sioux Falls, Amy (Wayne) Fischer, Lennox; nieces and nephews:Misty (Ryan) Weisenbach, Amanda (Christopher) Bahrij, Matthew (Jessica) Larsen, John Fischer, Derek Fischer, Shawnna Love and Tracy Lykam; her mother, Margaret Charlton, Lennox; mother-in-law, Dorothy Lykam, Davenport, IA; and abrother-in-law, Richard (Cindy) Lykam of Davenport, IA.

She was preceded in death by her father, Delmer Schriever, Calvin Charlton, and Sarah Larsen.
