Laurel 'Laurie' Deaun Lykam, 54, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation was to be held Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities, a cancer support group.

Margaret Charlton, 87, of Lennox, SD, died Friday, June 14, 2019 at Edgewood Prairie Crossings, Sioux Falls, SD.

Margaret Dorothea Papka was born on November 7, 1931 at rural White, SD, in Brookings county, the daughter of Foster William and Henrietta Wilhelmina (Behrend) Papka. She grew up in Sinia, Estelline, Henry and Watertown. SD. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1948, She later earned an LPN degree from Southeast Area Tech in 1972 and then her bachelor's degree from Augustana College in 1985. She then earned a master's degree from the University of Texas in 1996.

Margaret was united in marriage to Delmer Schriever on March 30, 1951 at Estelline, SD. Five children were born to this union.

On June 2, 1973 she was united in marriage to Calvin Charlton at Lennox, SD.

Throughout her married life she had lived in Tea, Sioux Falls, rural Harrisburg, Mt Carroll, IL, Baxter, MN and Lennox. Margaret worked as an LPN at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls for 11 years and as a Nursing Home Administrator for the Good Samaritan Society for 15 years.

Margaret was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, Lennox Senior Citizens, Lennox Historical Society, Lennox Petal Pals and the Town and Country Extension Club. She was a Girl Scout Leader for five years, a 4-H Leader for 15 years and was part of the Lennox Band Parents. Margaret was also a foster parent for several years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading and colleted tea pots and butterfly pins.

Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by husband Calvin in 1980; two daughters: Laurel Lykam and Elizabeth Fodness and a granddaughter. Sarah Larsen; one brother, Darrel Papka.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Richard Schriever, Lennox, Margaret Jean (Wayne) Larsen, Sioux Falls and Amy (Wayne) Fischer, Lennox; sons-in-law: Thomas Lykam, Bettendorf, IA and Jan Fodness, Sioux Falls; five grandchildren: Misty (Ryan) Weisenbach, John Fischer, Derek (Jenna) Fischer, Amanda (Christopher) Bahrij and Matthew (Jessica) Larsen and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Vaughn, Bloomer, WI, as well as other relatives and friends.
