Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Congregational Church for Lester Drake, 65, ... ... Lester was married to Esther Bond on June 30, 1922. To this union were born four sons: Charles, deceased in 1948, Howard of Elmore, Minnesota, Kendall of Bemidji, Minnesota and Leslie of Ames; and four daughters, Margaret, (Mrs. RobertBriscoe) of Fort Worth, Texas; Leona, (Mrs. John Breevaart) of Estherville; Murial, (Mrs. Roger Anderson) of Nigeria, Africa; and Elsie, (Mrs. Billy Smith) of Buffalo Center. ... "Esther M. Drake, 92

Funeral services for Esther M. Drake, 92, of Buffalo Center were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. February 2 at First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center. Rev. Jim Sullivan officiated. Interment was in Olena Mound Cemetery. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Esther died Tuesday, January 30, 1996 at Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center.

Casketbearers were Dave Drake, Charles Drake, Paul Drake, Randy Smith, Dan Smith and Dale Anderson. Music was provided by organist Jan Missman, vocalists Dale and. Muriel Anderson sang, "It Is Well With My Soul", Ken Drake sang "Until Then" and the congregation sang, "Because He Lives" and "Jesus Is All the World To Me".

Esther M. Drake was bom April 11, 1903 in Lee Township, Franklin County, to William and Margaret (Smith) Bond. She attended Buffalo Center High School and graduated in 1921. She taught school for one year in Grant township.

June 30, 1922 Esther was united In marriage to Lester Drake. They farmed until 1942 and then moved to Buffalo Center and resided then ever since."

"Esther joined First Congregational Church at an early age and was faithful in attendance in both church and Sunday School. She was Cradle Roll Superintendent for 30 years and also taught classes in Sunday School of various ages forseveral years. She was also active hi 4-H work, being a leader for six years and committee member for eight years.

Esther had many hobbies such as scrapbooks, genealogy and especially flowers, growing many kinds and experimenting with them.

Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Briscoe and husband, Robert, Port Worth, Texas; Leona Breevaart, Estherville; Muriel Anderson and husband, Roger, Bemidji, Minnesota, and Elsie Smith and husband, Billy, Buffalo Center; threesons: Howard Drake and wife, Marlene, Marshall, Minnesota; Kendall Drake and wife, Jean, Algona, and Leslie Drake, Washington, D.C.; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister Ruth Berryhill, Buffalo; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Bond of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester, on March 17, 1965; one son, Charles; a sister, Pearl and three brothers: Clarence, Franklin, and Louis." <>
