"Funeral Services Held Saturday for Lester Drake, 65

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Congregational Church for Lester Drake, 65, with the Rev. Avery Wetzig conducting the services. The Winter Funeral Service of Buffalo Center was in charge of arrangementsand interment was in the Olena Mound cemetery at Buffalo Center.

Pallbearers were the three sons and three sons-in-law, Howard Drake, Kendall Drake, Leslie Drake, Robert Briscoe, Billy Smith and John Breevaart.

Billy Lester Drake was born to Benjamin Drake and Jennet Mclintosh July 16, 1899 at Buffalo Center, Iowa. He passed away at the Buffalo Center Hospital, after several months illness, on March 17, 1965 at the age of 65 years, 8 months andone day.

Lester was married to Esther Bond on June 30, 1922. To this union were born four sons: Charles, deceased in 1948, Howard of Elmore, Minnesota, Kendall of Bemidji, Minnesota and Leslie of Ames; and four daughters, Margaret, (Mrs. RobertBriscoe) of Fort Worth, Texas; Leona, (Mrs. John Breevaart) of Estherville; Murial, (Mrs. Roger Anderson) of Nigeria, Africa; and Elsie, (Mrs. Billy Smith) of Buffalo Center.

Mr. Drake lived all of his life in and near Buffalo Center. He farmed south of town until 1939 At that time he moved into town where he was employed for several years by Jensvold's, Inc. Since about 1947 he did carpenter work in andaround Buffalo Center.

He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Buffalo Center. He received Jesus Christ as his own personal Saviour at a revival service in the church in 1917. He sang in the choir, served as Sunday School superintendentfor a time and just before his illness was janitor for the church.

He leaves to mourn his wife seven children, 13 grandchildren one sister, Mrs. V. D. Cummins of Fairmont, Minnesota and many other relatives and a host friends.
