Sept. 23, 1934 - Dec. 31, 2017

Lee Dixon, age 83, of Burt passed away on Sunday December 31, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Algona, with Rev. Cynthia Finn officiating. Flag presentation will be conducted by the Carter-Stott VFW Post #5236 of Burt. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at the Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

Orville Lee Dixon, the son of Orville T. And Mae (Grant) Dixon, was born on September 23, 1934 in Cresco Township near Algona, Iowa. He graduated from Swea City High School in 1952 and attended Iowa Lakes Community College. Lee served in the United States Army from 1957 - 59. On February 24, 1957 Lee was united in marriage with Velma Groen at the Burt United Methodist Church. He had worked as a welder and fabricator for Universal and KOFAB. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, telling stories, playing cards and in his younger days playing ball with his children and the neighbor kids in their backyard.

Left to cherish Lee's memory is a son, Tony Dixon and his wife Karla of Ames; two daughters, Sandy Person and her husband Larry of Algona and Nancy Dixon-Knecht and her husband Jerome of Whittemore; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Haley and Mara Dixon, Megan (James) Holz, Grant (Kirsten) Person, Derek Person; a great grandson, Lee Holz; two brothers, Gary (Sharon) Dixon of Springs, TX and Terry (Jane) Dixon of Algona; a sister, Mary (Dave) Doocy of Bancroft; sister-in-laws, Gladys Doege of Ankeny, Elda Groen, Carol Groen both of Algona and Jackie Dixon of Dixon, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jack Gettman of Mendon, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was greeted in heaven by his parents; wife, Velma who passed away in 2010; brothers, Bill and Harold "Slim" Dixon; and sisters, Betty Bergum, Phyllis Johnson, Lois Larsen, Ada Anderson and Joy Dixon in infancy.
