OBITUARY OF HENRY ITES

Henry Ites was born in Grothusen [sic] East Firesland [sic], Germany, Dec. 19, 1867. He was married to Miss Jennie Harms, March 26, 1892 at Hamswelrum [sic], in the same month he emigrated to America settling on a farm near Alden; therehe lived nineteen years. During the last six years of his life he resided in Germania. His premature death was caused by an accident while attempting to pass between two freight cars. He passed away four hours later on the same dayMarch 14. After funeral services had been conducted at Germania last Saturday the body was brought to Alden where it was interred last Sunday. Services were conducted in the home if [sic] Mrs. Ralph Harms, mother-in-law of the deceasedand in the Evangelical church, Rev. Armin Haeussler, officiating. Mr. Ites leaves to mourn his death his wife two sons and one daughter; Ralph and Ed which are married and living near Titonka; 7 brothers, Reike and Heiko of Alden; Johnof Radcliffe; two sisters, one living in Illinois and one sister and mother who live in Germany. Mr. Ites was a member of the Evangelical church while he lived in Alden and was known by the community to be a hard working and sincere manwhose good character no community could well afford to lose. On March 26 he and his beloved wife had intended to observe the twenty-fifth anniversary of their marriage but the Almighty chose in his infinite wisdom to alter the plans.The length of Mr. Ites sojourn in this world was 49 years 2 month and 26 days. Those from a distance who attended the funeral are John and Dick Harms of Titonka; C. K. Rippentrop and son Ben of Germania; John Wibben and Eli Lesner ofHartsberg, Ill. - Record."
