Note: Norma Lucile Schaap Johnson was born July 5, 1934 to Peter and Margery (Harken) Schaap in Austinville, Iowa. On February 8, 1942 the family moved to Aplington where Norma graduated from high school in 1952. On March 16, 1952 Normapublicly professed her faith in Jesus Christ in the Austinville Christian Reformed Church. On April 20, 1954 she was united in marriage with Alvin Lubert Johnson at the home of her parents and they established their home in Ackley, Iowa.At this time Norma transferred her church membership to the Ackley Christian Reformed Church and remained active there until it closed in September 1998. During this time Norma served as a Sunday School teacher, Catechism teacher, JuniorChoir Director and often sang in the Choir or accompanied them. For over 30 years she served as church organist and in various offices of the Couples Club. Norma also served as the School Board Secretary of the Ackley Public Schools andlater the Ackley-Geneva Community Schools for over 40 years. Upon her retirement she enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and visiting with friends and family. Norma passed away on August 2, 2004 at Mercy Medical center in Mason City,Iowa of Metastatic Breast Cancer.
