Leaving a good friend, Cornelius Eppenmor at Aurich (Prussia), Germany, Franz and Janna came to America on the ship Washington arriving at New York's Ellis Island on March 20, 1911. They first went to Iona Lake, Murray Co, MN with son Herman and daughter Katrina. They stayed there with uncle Jan Basche and farmed near Fulda, Murray Co, MN until possibly 1918 and then were in Fifield, Price Co, WI. Then in 1920, they moved to a farm near Chatsworth, Sioux Co, IA and resided there until their deaths.
