Note: Monett, MO sits smack dab on the Barry/Lawrence Co. line. Also, Mr. Alvey spells Monnett. Which is correct? Was Gertrude born in Barry Co. or Lawrence Co.? It is my hypothesis that, because the railroad is in Barry Co., the older part of the city is in Barry Co. and Gertrude was born there. If Calvin worked for the railroad, all this would make sense. If he were a farmer, all bets are off. - David A. Navorska - xxix May MMIV - Irving TX
