Louise Folk, age 99, of Milbank, South Dakota, passed away on May 25, 2013 at the Milbank Area Avera Hospital. Louise Agnes Folk was born on November 24, 1913 in Milbank, South Dakota to Martin and Helena (Jansen) Croymans. She attended rural school through the 5th grade and then completed her education through the 8th grade at the Catholic school in Milbank. Louise worked as a cook and waitress before her marriage. Louise was united in marriage to Frank G. Folk on May 30, 1936 and to this union seven children were born. Louise and Frank made their lifelong home on their farm. Louise was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, where she was active in the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She also belonged to the Extension Club. Louise volunteered many hours at the Thrift Store. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking for her family. Louise remained very independent and active through the age of 97. Louise is survived by her children: Carol (Clem) Benkofske of Brooklyn Center, MN; Roger (Sharon) Folk of Coon Rapids, MN; Gordy (Elaine) Folk of St. Michael, MN; Howard Folk of Blaine, MN; and Brian (Debbie) Folk of Milbank; 22 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
