Graveside services for Robert R. Smith, 55, of Los Angeles California, formerly of Thompson, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson. Pastor Wendy Trome of the United Methodist Church ofThompson will officiate. Robert passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2002 at the Riverside Medical Center in California. Winter Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Robert F. Smith was born on March 14, 1947 at Thompson to Floyd and Maxine (Kingsbury) Smith. He attended high school at Woden-Crystal Lake. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for awhile and then settled in California in 1978. Hewas a truck driver working for several different companies.

Robert is survived by his mother, Maxine Friesenborg of Algona; his wife Mary Lou, and her children and grandchildren, all of California; three daughters: Nancy, Belinda and Deanna, all of Garner; four brothers: Maynard Smith of Algona,James of Los Angeles, Gary of Richmond, Texas, and Michael Friesenborg of Corwith. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers." <>
