"Gladys Albers

Gladys Albers, 99, passed away July 1 at Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 5 at First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, with Pastor Bill Peake officiating. Burial was at Olena MoundCemetery.

Gladys Mary DeSmidt Pedersen Albers was born December 5, 1912 in Laurens to Abraham and Emma (Gatton) DeSmidt. She graduated from Humboldt High School and then taught school in the Rutland area.

On January 17, 1937, she married Chris Mike Pedersen, the son of Willis and Laura Pedersen of Ottosen, at the Rutland Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home first at Ottosen on a farm and then latrer at the family farm south of BuffaloCenter. After Mike passed away in 1981, Gladys moved into Buffalo Center and, in 1984, she married Ted Albers who passed away in 2002.

Gladys and Mike and later Gladys and Ted spent many years at their home in McAllen, TX, where they enjoyed themselves and found many new friends.

Gladys was a member of the Grant Lutheran Church and then of the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. She was a member of the circles in both churches and also a Bison Senior Citizens member where she enjoyed playing cards.

She became a resident of the Timely Mission Nursing Home in January until her passing on July 1.

Gladys is survived by her four daughters: Karen (John) Oftedahl of Buffalo Center; Judy Sunde (Wes Madetzke) of Buffalo Center; Laura (Greg) Hanson of Isanti, MN; and Diane (Mark) Gilbert of Garner. Grandchildren: Teresa Oftedahl; Sherry(Tony) Rahm; Cory (Kim) Oftedahl; Jason Sunde; Jody (Steve) Seemann; Jill Gilmore; Jerrod (Sharon) Sunde; Jonas Hanson; Chris (Angie) Bierle; Travis (Kristy) Bierle; and Heidi (Scott) Weaver. Great-grandchildren: Megan, Justin, Conner,Savannah, Mercedes, MacKenzie, Josie, Grant, Payton, Claire, Gabriel, Jack, Benjamin, Morgan, Natalie, Wyatt, Dylan, Jace, Katelyn, Aspen, Amanda, Rachel and Ella. Great-great grandchildren: Addison and Carson. Sister-in-law MildredDeSmidt, and two nephews, Gary and Mike DeSmidt and their families.

She is preceded in death by her husbands Chris and Ted, parents, parents-in-law, her brother Harold DeSmidt and a son."
