"Doroty V. Black, 99, formerly of Pemberville, Ohio and most recently of Joshua, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, July 14, 2023. Dorothy was born April 11, 1924, in Adrian, Michigan to Perd and Alta (Trumbull) Cole. On October 22, 1954, she married her loving husband, Rev. Harold Black. Dorothy was employed with Maumee Valley Hospital, Tiedtkes Department Store and Quick Dry Cleaners. Her hobbied included: camping, sewing and baking for her family. Dorothy was a constant support of the numerous congregations Harold served throughout his years in ministry.

Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren, Jodi (Randy) Deck, James Gears, and Justin Gears; great-grandchildren, Maddy, Ethan, Noah, and Faith; daughter-in-law, Rose Gears; beloved family friend of 55 years Dan and Mafelda DeLaVega of Santiago, Chile; along with many loving family members and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Harold; daughter Phyllis Gears, son-in law, James Gears; and 10 siblings.

The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S Coy Road Friday, July 28, 2023, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. Funeral services Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Private interment: Eisenhour Cemetery. Preferred memorials: Unity United Methodist Church Food Pantry."
