Notes about Henri Guillaume Lavallee

Henri Guillaume Lavallée was baptized on April 6, 1859, the day of his birth. His godparents were Henri Tranchemontagne and Marie-Louise-Valeril Noll. There are no records for his parents in Berthier after the birth of a daughter in 1866. They moved to Colchester, Vermont according to the US Census of 1880. Henri was then known as Henry and he worked in a lumberyard. He married in 1884, but the children did not begin to be born before 1891. I have hypothesized that Henry moved to Willimansett after his marriage to find work in the paper mills in Holyoke, leaving his very young wife behind. According to the 1880 US census, there were Lavallees living in Willimansett and Holyoke. They were borders in several households and they worked in the Holyoke mills and brickyards in Chicopee. Henry and Anastasia began their family in 1891 in Willimansett, Massachusetts. They had 8 known children; five boys and three girls. He was a member of the "Willimansett Club" and held the office of "clerk". The club was organized in 1906 and held their meetings in Holyoke on Bridge Street. He is listed on his children's birth certificates as a printer and typesetter. Very little is known about his life. He probably died sometime before 1918.
