CORBETT James M. -January 27, 1921 -The following concerning the death of James M. Corbett, one of the prominent citizens of New Bethlehem, has been sent us by our correspondent from that place. The entire community was shocked last week to hear that James M. Corbett had sustained a stroke late Wednesday night while moving about in his home. He had been in the best of health previously. He never regained consciousness, dying Friday morning at five o'clock. Funeral services were held at his late home on Sunday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. Maxwell Cornelius. Miss Marjorie Eddinger rendered "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth." Interment took place in the local cemetery where his twin brother Bruce, and also William, lie. James M. Corbett was born 81 years ago at Rockville, one of eight sons born to Ross M. and Ruth Corbett. Early in life he became associated with the P. R. R. service as telegrapher and station agent here till his retirement. During the war he again resumed the position of freight agent. He was married to Jane Space, who survives him with three children: Mrs. Clara Putney, of this place; Herbert, of Cuba, N. Y., and Joseph, of Pittsburgh; also by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Corbett celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last May when their children gave them a dinner at McCreery's, Pittsburgh. Mr. Corbett was one of the pioneer residents here, a faithful interested member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the Civil War. Of his immediate family only two brothers survive. He was a first cousin of Dr. Hunter Corbett, of China, who died just a year ago.
