CORBETT Jared - April 15, 1915 - Mr. Jared Corbett, one of the older and most highly esteemed residents of Clarion, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Campbell, at 12 o'clock noon, today, Thursday, April 15, 1915. He would have been 78 years old had he lived until next August. He is survived by his son Hazel Corbett and his daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Campbell. He is survived by his brothers, C. Lee and A.G. Corbett, of Clarion; S.B. and J.M. Corbett, of New Bethlehem; Frank S., of Strattanville, and Nelson Corbett, of Corsica. The funeral will be held from his late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, April 22, 1915 The aged and most worthy citizen as briefly announced in last week's Democrat, passed away beyond the confines of time and entered upon the life beyond Thursday, April 15, 1915, after a brief illness, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Campbell, of Clarion, Pa. Mr. Corbett was aged 78 years. He was the third son of Major Samuel T. and Ruth Corbett, and was born on the family homestead in Clarion Township, where he grew to manhood. He was married in 1861 to Miss Margaret Rankin and their union blessed them with five children, three of whom preceded their father in death, leaving two surviving, namely: Mrs. Chas. C. Campbell and Mr. Hazel Corbett, both of Clarion. Mr. Corbett was a farmer throughout practically all of his active life, retiring some twenty years ago, since which time he has been a resident most of the time in Clarion. His wife died nine years ago. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Clarion and during the past twelve years was a Ruling Elder. He was an active, intelligent and true Christian man and was always loyally and faithfully interested and active in church work. He was a man of high honor and impeachable integrity. Mr. Corbett was a member of a remarkable family of boys, eight in number, which remained unbroken until last year, when a brother in New Bethlehem died, and now he makes the second. The six brothers still surviving are C. Lee and A.G. Corbett of Clarion; S.B. and J.M. Corbett, of New Bethlehem; Nelson Corbett, of Corsica and Frank S. Corbett, of Strattanville. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Glenn M. Shafer, last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his late residence, and the internment was made in Clarion cemetery.
